This week is all about the San Juan County Fair out on the islands, plus a steady stream of summer concerts and a few unique events. Looks like the weather should hold, so get out there and enjoy it.
Midweek Merriment
Starting today, Wednesday, August 12th, you can find Ecstatic Dance at Lopez Community Center in the morning. Later, in Oak Harbor, the Sounds of Summer Concert Series kicks off at Windjammer Park with a free show. Over on Orcas, Doe Bay Resort & Retreat has an Artist in Residence performing. Thursday brings more fair action with the 2026 San Juan County Fair at WSU San Juan County Extension. If you're in Anacortes, Baby Cakes plays a free show at Skagit Riverwalk as part of their Summer Concert Series. Weekend Wonders
Friday, August 14th, is when the San Juan County Fair really gets going at the San Juan County Fairgrounds, promising "delicious food, amazing exhibits, incredible music & entertainment, and don't forget the rides!" In Port Townsend, the Island Shakespeare Festival presents King John: A Solo Performance. Over in Oak Harbor, the By The Harbor Market is a free event at Pioneer Way with local vendors, and Ronnie Nix plays a free show downtown. For music lovers, Point of Sail plays a free concert at Seafarers Memorial Park, and OICMF – Orcas~trations: Four Piano Spectacular is at Orcas Center for $10. There's also LittleBIGFest at the Whidbey Island Fairgrounds and Events Center with music, art, and more. On Saturday, August 15th, Michael Wisniewski plays the Anacortes Farmers Market for free. In the evening, The Henry Rose Band plays San Juan Vineyard, and The Savage Blues Band is outdoors at The Heart of Anacortes. Art enthusiasts can check out the Whidbey Working Artists Open Studio Tour 2026 at Whidbey Island Fine Art Studio with 69 artists. Sunday, August 16th, brings Music at the Market to the South Whidbey Tilth Farmers' Market, and the Lopez Annual Team Cornhole Tournament at Lopez Community Center.
Into Next Week
Looking ahead, Monday, August 17th, has The Greatest Show- Circus Dance Camp at Hillcrest Park for young dancers, and another performance of King John: A Solo Performance at Island Shakespeare Festival. Midweek, on Wednesday, August 19th, the Lopez Community Center hosts Up Up Up Crane Truck Circus! And internationally touring world music artist Girish performs on San Juan Island, with options for a general performance or a chanting and transformational breathwork session, both for $40. Thursday, August 20th, the San Juan Islands Museum of Art Summer Exhibitions are still running for $10. The Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival Concert is at Lopez Community Center, and PFLAG Skagit Annual Party is a free community social at Hillcrest Lodge. The Riverwalk Summer Concert Series in Anacortes continues with The Chris Eger Band.
The Following Weekend
Friday, August 21st, offers more free music with Steve Johnson in Oak Harbor and Santa Poco at Seafarers Memorial Park. OICMF – Love Triangle is at Orcas Center for $10. Saturday, August 22nd, el Colonel plays classical tunes at the Anacortes Farmers Market. There's an Eagles Tribute Band at Arrowhead Ranch, and Flipside plays San Juan Vineyard. For jazz fans, the Award-Winning Jazz Trio Duende Libre performs at San Juan Community Theatre. If you're into tribute bands, Good Times Roll: A Tribute to the Cars is at Bertelsen Winery for $100, benefiting The NOAH Center. And North Sound Soul plays a free show at SWIFT Center. Wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, August 23rd, the Valley Made Market is at Riverwalk Plaza, and Up Up Up! plus Dana Lyons performs for free at Village Green in Eastsound.
