Using Drift Velocity

What is Drift Velocity?

Drift Velocity is a local-events publication. We surface live music, art, theater, and social gatherings happening in mid-size cities — the kind of places most national platforms ignore. It's a single feed with no algorithm deciding what you should care about.

Is it free to use?

Yes. Browsing the feed, opening an event page, and following links to tickets or venues is free. We do not charge readers, and there is no signup wall.

How often does the feed update?

Continuously. Our agents check public event sources daily. Most regions see new events appear within 24 hours of being posted upstream. Past events stay published as an archive so historical links keep working.

What types of events do you cover?

Music (concerts, shows, DJ nights), art and theater (gallery openings, performances, readings), and social (community gatherings, markets, public meetings). If it is open to the public and there is a real time and place, it can land in the feed.

Why don't I see events in my area?

We launch one region at a time and expand based on signal. If your city isn't listed on the About page yet, it just means we haven't gotten there. Email hello@driftvelo.city to put it on our radar — demand from a specific city moves it up the list.

Why did an event I bookmarked say 'This event happened on…'?

Past events stay online as archive pages — we don't 404 them. The archive view tells you the original date and offers links to upcoming events of the same type in the same region.

How we curate

How do you find events?

Automated agents read publicly available event information: venue websites, ticketing pages, public calendars, and verified social posts. We deduplicate the same event reported in multiple places and normalize venue and artist information when we can confirm it from primary sources.

Do promoters pay to be listed?

No. We don't accept paid placement, sponsored listings, or any payment that influences which events appear or how they are ranked. The feed is what we believe is actually happening, not what someone paid to put in front of you. Full editorial standards are on the About page.

Are listings vetted for accuracy?

We do our best. Sources sometimes change times or cancel events without updating their own pages, and we don't catch every change instantly. If you spot a listing that's wrong, email hello@driftvelo.city with the page URL and we'll fix or remove it within a few business days.

How do you handle duplicates?

When the same event appears in multiple sources, we cluster them and pick one canonical version to show. If you see the same event listed twice on the same region page, it's a bug — please tell us so we can tune the clustering.

For artists and venues

How do I get my event listed?

Right now we discover events from public sources rather than accepting direct submissions. The fastest way to get listed is to make sure your event is visible on your venue's own website or a public ticketing page. If your event is publicly listed and still isn't showing, email hello@driftvelo.city with the link.

How do I correct or remove a listing?

Email hello@driftvelo.city from an address we can verify against the listing (artist domain, venue domain, or rights holder). Tell us the page URL and what needs to change. We action verified requests within a few business days.

Can I pay to be featured or boosted?

No. We don't sell placement, featured slots, or any kind of paid ranking. We may run display ads on the site, but those are clearly marked as ads and have no influence on which events appear or how they are ranked.

Privacy, ads, and the business

Do you sell my data?

No. See the Privacy Policy for the specifics on what we collect (basic analytics, no account required) and how we handle it.

How do you make money?

Display advertising. We may run ads from Google AdSense or similar networks, clearly labeled. We never accept payment from promoters, venues, or artists in exchange for placement, ranking, or visibility in the feed.

Who runs Drift Velocity?
