About
Martha Redbone is an Indigenous Black woman whose music is described as a "gumbo" of folk, blues, and gospel from her childhood in Harlan County, Kentucky, infused with the "eclectic grit of pre-gentrified Brooklyn." She broadens the boundaries of American Roots music, drawing from her African American father's gospel singing and her mother's Southeastern Cherokee/Choctaw culture.
